The Reiki One Weekend

I’d had an interest in healing for years, even going so far as to do meditations while I sleep that were supposed to facilitate that, and even laying hands on an animal I knew. I felt drawn to do it, but never formally studied any healing techniques until going to the circles at Crystal Vision.
The time felt right, so I took a chance and signed up for the Reiki 1 Weekend several years ago. I had no idea what I was in for, but I was excited to learn and see what the weekend brought.
I followed the pre-class directions carefully (there are dietary restrictions recommended to prepare for the weekend, as well as other things one should do to get ready.) and soon, I was standing walking into my first class. It was a great group of people who were a lot of fun. I enjoyed all the information we were given, as well as the hands-on instruction we received. One thing I wasn’t prepared for were the things that you don’t see on your instruction sheet.
The emotional response was unreal. I cried at least once during the weekend, and I found that, as predicted, that there was a change in how certain people reacted/related to me. I also found the pets flocking to me after. Another unexpected thing that happened was a sense of fatigue. The weekend was physically draining, but in a good way. I could tell I was doing some real spiritual work that was paying off. On the physical side, I was surprised to see the swelling that was a constant in one foot had dropped significantly. Soon, it looked almost just like the other foot.┬áHaving loved my first experience so much, I signed up for another one. I didn’t have the same emotional response as with the level one class. I found a lot of negative emotions rising, but I was more energized, and by the end of the weekend, the change was obvious. I found myself responding to conflict a lot more calmly. I was more empowered, and less shy about speaking up and speaking my truth. It’s an experience I am grateful for, and I’m curious to see where Reiki takes me next.
